The Library is delighted to bring back Kimmie Dobos, Pewabic Pottery archivist, who will lead a presentation detailing Pewabic's 115-year history in the city of Detroit. The discussion will include rarely-seen photographs and artifacts from Pewabic's past and present, as well as a virtual guided tour throughout the Pewabic home on E. Jefferson Avenue in Detroit. The presentation will conclude with an inside look at the process of creating and installing the Library's mural.
In 2017, Pewabic artists created a unique mural for the vestibule of the Library, made possible by a generous and anonymous donor. Created to capture the Plymouth community as a whole, the mural includes such local landmarks as the Penn Theater, downtown clock, Miller Woods and the Lake Pointe water tower. All elements are encircled by a "railway" track.
